about

Too clinically brutal to be a Doom band, too sludgy to be defined as death metal, too Dark to be labelled as a hardcore band- The nightmarish soundscapes BLACK TONGUE create simply have to stand alone.

Claustrophobic atmospheres in the vein of Meshuggah and Neurosis at their most punishing collide with the raw, riff soaked energy of ‘Remission’ era Mastodon and the raw, belligerent brutality of The Acacia Strain…the result is a sonic force that is both powerful and multi layered. A sound that is already starting to evolve in its own right.

2013’s follow up offering to ‘Falsifier’ was the EP entitled ‘Born Hanged’, launched with the song ‘Waste’ - www.youtube.com/watch?v=piZc9rcBtLk - the new offering showed a step up in both the song writing and production (which, by the way, is also handled by the band) and confirmed what everyone suspected: that the BLACK TONGUE were not only here to stay, but that they have only just begun to show the world what they are truly capable of. A US and Canadian tour was then announced as well as a score of high profile supports and festivals….all without label support or management.

BLACK TONGUE then signed worldwide to Century Media and released a compiled, remastered version of both of their previous EPs as a definitive Redux release in 2014. Tours followed with Suicide Silence, Veil Of Maya, Chelsea Grin and many more as the band also began to write the next offering.

2015 now sees the band’s first dedicated full length, THE UNCONQUERABLE DARK, released on September 4th. Featuring the artwork of Ken Sarafin (Oceano) and produced by Black Tongue and Jesse Kirkbride. This promises to be the year in which BLACK TONGUE make their mark as the undisputed leaders of their newly forged downtempo/death/doom crossover sound.
