about

Swedish titans THE HAUNTED have returned with a stunning new offering, “The Dead Eye”, that is sure to surprise, possibly overwhelm, the entire metal community. Since inception, the group has been pigeonholed as a thrash unit, a moniker further solidified by their lineup featuring two ex-members of the legendary At The Gates, but the quintet have continually evolved over the years and strived to create an offering that defied the musical boundaries attached to the genre. With this album THE HAUNTED ultimately prove that their songwriting prowess is indefinable and undeniable hoping to show everyone that within this genre there are no limitations. After three critically praised releases and worldwide touring with acts as diverse as Napalm Death, Testament, Entombed, Nine, Cannibal Corpse, Dimmu Borgir, Lamb Of God, Mastodon, Shai Hulud or Funeral For A Friend, THE HAUNTED left their biggest mark on the scene with 2004’s acclaimed rEVOLVEr. This was their first offering with original vocalist Peter Dolving back in the fold after a lengthy hiatus (he last appeared with the group on 1998’s self-titled debut) and quickly propelled them back into the spotlight. They immediately headed out onto a North American tour with Damageplan and Shadows Fall, then following with UK headline dates with Martyr AD and Dead To Fall as well as European touring with Cradle Of Filth and Moonspell; their biggest break, however, would come on Ozzfest 2005 where they performed on the second stage each day in front of thousands of people. Another North American tour with Meshuggah, God Forbid and Mnemic as well as a European headline run with God Forbid and God Dethroned successfully closed out the album’s massive campaign. THE HAUNTED spent the better part of 2006 working on the new material, pushing themselves to create something unique that effectively combines elements of their previous efforts while exploring new ideas to continuously challenge themselves. Dolving says it best, “This album is simply more diverse, dynamic and heavy as fuck. Look forward to an album we're all extremely proud of.” The highly anticipated new effort was recorded in Denmark at PUK studios (drums) and Antfarm Studios (all others and mix) with renowned producer Tue Madsen (Sick Of It All, Himsa, Heaven Shall Burn) and turns out to be their most accomplished work yet, both in terms of musical content and production. “The Dead Eye” is through and through a modern masterpiece of an album: a manifest by open-minded musicians for open minded listeners, grouping all beloved trademarks that crafted THE HAUNTED’s leading status within the extreme metal scene for the decade of their existence, but at the same time elevating the quality of the presented material to new dimensions, combining challenging and diverse songwriting with clever and in-depth lyrical approach; and yes, we are talking from start to finish without a quality let-down! Extreme music hasn’t often sounded this profound and personal…

This lijmited version contains two bonus tracks not found on the standard edition of the album.
