Although BORKNAGAR was never intended to be a real Black Metal band, many claimed that they created a milestone in the development of Norwegian Black Metal. When CENTURY MEDIA spotted this cult underground act in 1997 and signed them to the label, no time was wasted and the band was sent into the Studio to record their classic debut album “The Olden Domain”, which was released later that year and made it on the top of the international metal editors favorites list immediately.

After their first European tour with IN FLAMES the band went home writing more mature and epic material which should eventually become a new masterpiece: THE ARCHAIC COURSE, their new album which has even taken their optimistic fans by surprise. “Record of the month” – “The best songs I heard in ten years” – “an incredible step” – “The beginning of a new era” are only but a few comments from the Media after some of the new material was released to Press and Radio.

THE ARCHAIC COURSE is a metamorphosis in style and in quality which will undoubtly become one of the cult records of that genre. With Simen Hestnaes BORKNAGAR found a world class vocalist who pushed the band in a new dimension, a monster Woodhouse-Production and some fascinating epic hook lines finished up a record which was made to stand out. THE ARCHAIC COURSE surpasses Black Metal as you know it. It gives the genre a new perception.
