Ippocalyptica I already own this paragon of avant-garde and dissonant black metal in another format, but wanted to buy it on Bandcamp just to spread the word about one of 2022’s best overall black metal albums. This is not easy listening, but it is more accessible than Imperial Triumphant’s masterwork (that would be Vile Luxury), and it is increasingly rewarding over 18 months after its initial release. And if you ever get the chance to see them live, drop everything and do it: their live show is insane! Favorite track: Merkurius Gilded.

GeN2Mo Sheer decadent overwhelm takes a little bit of a step back in favor of a more linear roller coaster ride of extravagant sounds. No less challenging, not without its subtleties but with more overt spectacle and a more playful vibe. Which makes it an interesting companion to my still favourite "Vile Luxury".
