bmurator Swiss Black Metal. This, from what I understand is a golden oldie! Huge thank you to Ippocalyptica for his review! I have always "seen the light" & liked metal from a very early age but I have only recently been drawn to the extreme light, so I had missed this. It sounds incredibly fresh still today. The production today may have been a little different but - wow! What an album & what skills & highly recommended!!!

Ippocalyptica Samael released three great albums in their career, and Passage is arguably the best of them all, both for how it creatively combined mid-tempo black metal with electronic elements and how unique it was both at its release and even at present. Nothing sounded like this in 1996, and very few albums today in this style can eclipse it. Make no mistake: though several of these songs would be pop-radio friendly if not for the harsh vocals, this is as metal and as visionary as anything from the era. Favorite track: Born Under Saturn.

about

After releasing three black metal albums, Swiss metal visionaries Samael started to create a downright unique sound which combined strong metal riffs, danceable rhythms and electronic ingredients. The result was far beyond anyone's expectations, peaking as the band's most successful release to date, while songs like “Rain”, the impelling track “Jupiterian Vibe” and the ballad-like song “Moonskin” belong to the most sophisticated pieces of dark music, with magazines like Guitar World saying it presented the sound of "Slayer in outer space".
