2003 has been a busy year for Nocturnal Rites. They've been on road in Europe with Saxon, toured Japan with Hammerfall and sat down to write the new album “New World Messiah” in their hometown Umea in the far north of Sweden. This might sound almost routine if you look back on the career of these five true-to-the-bone Metal friends. It's already their sixth album, they've toured with the likes of Nevermore, Iron Savior, Overkill, Angel Dust, or Labyrinth, and appeared on the biggest Metal festivals in Europe (Dynamo, Wacken Open Air and Sweden Rock). Above all they have the talent to blend their experience with outstanding songwriting skills into a fresh breeze of stunning and powerful Heavy Metal.

The new album was recorded in their hometown of Umea, Sweden, a well-known spring of high quality bands like Meshuggah, Naglfar and Refused, each of whom earned reputations as leaders of their own league. For the mixdown and mastering they left Sweden for the first time to get a glorious sound from Finnvox Studio in Helsinki, Finland. The man behind the desk is T.T. Oksala who recently did a great job for bands like Tiamat, Apocalyptica and other stars of the global Metal empire. A warm and powerful sound was ensured by Minerva Pappi, one of the finest female mastering engineers currently in the business.

To complete the dream team, "New World Messiah" features cover artwork from Russian fantasy artist Leo Hao, already renowned for his work with Blind Guardian ("The Bard's Song"), Iced Earth ("The Glorious Burden", "The Reckoning") and Primal Fear ("Devil's Ground") as well as for the last Nocturnal Rites album "Shadowland" in 2002.

Nearly every true metal album being issued is heralded as the ultimate Melodic Power Metal album, but with five fantastic efforts already under their belts, Nocturnal Rites are just now hitting their stride.

From the opening title track to the heavy as hell "Against The World", the catchy double bass attack of "Awakening" and the majestetic hymn "The Flame Will Never Die" every fan will find classic Metal anthems for eternity. This is not just an album, it's the NEW WORLD MESSIAH.

Contains two bonus tracks previously only found on the Japanese pressing.

I never cared about symphonic metal at all. I do very much care about folk as well as progressive metal, and so I couldn't resist after reading the third exceptional AMG review for Wilderun in a row. 'Sleep...' has been on my radar for quite some time, being graced by one of the most beckoning cover arts I have ever seen. The band more than lives up to its reputation, composing great musical pieces from start to finish. I absolutely love the multitude of influences being put together here. David Fischer

Finnish Melodic Death Metal. If you like Insomnium or Dark Tranquility or Be'lakor then this is should be perfect for you. The riffs & the melodies are very inventive & simply stunning & beautiful!
