sachavonkarl74 I did remember Unanimated's 1995 "Ancient God of Evil". While looking for that album, I've found this even earlier release. Very catchy melodic black metal, with a raw, LoFi production sound, almost. Happy I did look for Unanimated, and happy to see that Century Media still carries these old but gold releases !! Favorite track: Through The Gates.

After numerous bootleg versions and countless mistakes in either the tracklisting or the layout, it is the first time that this classic piece of Swedish Black/Death Metal history is available in its full glory, but with a fresh remastering by Patrick Engel (Asphyx, Candlemass, Darkthrone). This includes the original intended artwork for the release, as well as the band's complete "Fire Storm" 1991 demo as bonus tracks.

Witchcraft is one of the most contrapuntally-complex metal albums ever made, and if anything, I am not being hyperbolic enough with this statement. It is also simply an incredible symphonic black metal album. How, then, does Soulblight compare? Very favourably, actually, with the main difference being that Witchcraft is keyboard-dominated and Soulblight is very much guitars-and-drums-focused, with keyboards playing a supporting role.
