Danish Black Heavy Metal outfit Slaegt (a.k.a. Slægt, meaning "lineage” / “heritage" in Danish language and pronounced /slɛɡt/) continue to blaze their own trail on the band’s fourth full-length studio effort. The group’s first offering under their new label home in Century Media, ‘Goddess’ is a six-track, 40-minute tour de force that sees the Copenhagen band evolve and mature in all categories.

Slaegt comment on the album as follows: “’Goddess’ is without a doubt our most accomplished work to date. We have been more detailed and thorough than ever in regards to composition, lyrics, and production while still maintaining darkness and high energy in the execution. Words cannot describe how much we are looking forward to sharing this collection of songs with all our listeners.”

Following in the wake of predecessors ‘Domus Mysterium’ (2017), ‘The Wheel’ (2018), and their debut LP, ‘Ildsvanger’ (2015), ‘Goddess’ is without question the most ambitious and involved studio record from Slaegt to date. “We strived to be as experimental as ever and tried to push ourselves to the limit in every single way regarding the creation of this album”, adds the band.

For the recording of the new album, the band sought the recording/mixing contributions of venerable mastermind-producer Martin ‘Konie’ Ehrencrona (Refused, In Solitude, Viagra Boys, Tribulation) at Studio Cobra in Stockholm, Sweden. Ten days of nonstop, white knuckle grind later, far removed from the comfort of home, and the end result is the enthralling and deeply satisfying ‘Goddess’, which was finally mastered by Magnus Lindberg (The Hellacopters, Cult of Luna, Dool) at Redmount Studios, also in Stockholm, Sweden.

The compelling artwork for ‘Goddess’ was created by the illustrious Dávid Glomba (Svartidaudi, Cult Of Fire, Malokarpatan). “We were super excited when Dávid responded to our wish for him to work with us, and we think, that he has done an absolutely outstanding job to fulfill our visual ideas and concepts for this release. We have admired his work for a long time, so it brings us much pleasure to know, that he has also worked with us now”, explains the group.

Boasting more than 150 concerts under their belt, three European tours, and appearances at major festivals like Copenhell, Roadburn, Party.San and Roskilde, Slaegt have built a strong following and achieved critical acclaim both at home and internationally. Now, with the looming release of their fourth full-length, ‘Goddess’, the band looks to affirm their place as one of the most vital and exciting bands to come out of the Danish/Scandinavian Metal scene in recent years.
