about

Sweden’s very own GRAVE are back with yet another first-class, all-the-way crushing Death Metal offering for all you warriors of the old school as well as the scene-youngsters trying to discover the genre’s roots performed by one of the early originators. Initially established in 1986 with their previous outfit Corpse and best acknowledged on GRAVE’s classic 1991 debut album “Into The Grave”, which is still neutrally perceived as one of the most influential Swedish Death Metal albums of all time, GRAVE’s “Fiendish Regression” marks the follow-up studio release to 2002’s acclaimed “Back From The Grave” album and sees the band spice up their ever-traditional massive mid-pace catchy aggression with several surprising speed outbursts as well as highly remarkable riffs all throughout the album’s playing time, which are meant to make a direct impact on your brutalized ears. After touring with the likes of Immolation, Goatwhore and Crematorium through North America, a headlining European tour with The Forsaken and Disinter, then followed by a slot on the Monster-Package tour with Exodus, God Dethroned, Nuclear Assault, Agent Steel, etc., GRAVE decided to waste no time and for the first time in history decided to refresh their trademarked sound by not recording at their institutional Sunlight Studio refuge, but instead opted to pay a premier visit to the popular Abyss Studios (Amon Amarth, Hypocrisy, Dimmu Borgir, Immortal, etc.) in Sweden to immortalize their newest creations on tape with Peter Tägtgren as well as his brother Tommy on the recording duties. Remaining in the same core line-up of the last “comeback” years with GRAVE founding members Ola Lindgren (Guitars, Vocals) and Jonas Torndal (Guitars), and ex-Therion member Fredrik Isaksson (Bass), the band’s ranks feature a new entry on drums with Coercion-Member Pelle Ekegren (who already appeared on Grave’s 2002 tour as guest member), adding a more vivid and relentless groove attack to the classic GRAVE song-structures. The pounding opening track “Last Journey”, the maiming “Reborn” and “Awakening”, the intense groove-attack “Trial By Fire” or the closing slab of sonic up-tempo violence “Heretic” are good examples of the penetrating power contained in this massive 9-track release. “Fiendish Regression” comes embedded in killer artwork courtesy of Polish artist Jacek Wisnieswki (Marduk, Malevolent Creation, Vader, etc.) and will be released as a special slipcase-packaged release in its first pressing including the Saint Vitus cover track “Burial At Sea” and the re-recorded own cult track “Autopsied” as special bonus songs. Get it while it lasts and make sure not to miss the band debuting their new songs at this year’s edition of Germany’s Party-San Festival in August, while full European touring activities are scheduled for Autumn. The campaign of domination is about to begin…
