Hailing from the world capital of grunge, the Seattle based five piece that have come to be known as Nevermore, have once again outdone the highest of expectations. This time, Nevermore bring us their third full length album entitled Dreaming Neon Black. Once again entering Village Recorders in the death valley-like atmosphere of Tornillo, Texas, this time with new second guitarist Tim Calvert (ex-Forbidden), Nevermore have without any shadow of a doubt put together their finest piece of work thus far. Steering only slightly away from the usual highly technical musicianship they have been known for, Dreaming Neon Black takes you into the mind of a desperate man that has nothing else to lose, with Nevermore as your personal guides. The title track, in fact, includes a slight gothic touch that will haunt you for days to come. Other songs consistently prove their uncanny ability to add melodic hooks around every corner and combine it with heavy grooves and a nothing less than mesmerising guitar duo. The growth of Nevermore as a band not to be compared to the likes of anything else is apparent on each new release. Dreaming Neon Black is sure to turn the heads of those who were sceptical in the past, and please those who were there since day one. Without calling this a conceptual album, there is undoubtedly a story to be found hidden beyond the depths of each track.
