One of the best drunken side projects ever to see the light of day, Bloodbath saw Jonas and Anders from Katatonia, Mikael from Opeth, and Dan from Edge Of Sanity come together for a few sessions that paid tribute to the elder gods of death metal -- in particular, when the group started playing around with the concept and paying homage to some of their Swedish/Scandinavian forebeareres, in pure old-school death metal tribute. The band threw together a demo tape of a couple songs, which they sent to some friends they had made at various record labels, and Century Media stepped forward and offered to release a debut EP of three songs. This three-tracker, titled "Breeding Death", would put the band on the map while setting them up as a serious contender for retro-death metal done by people who had lived and breathed it all during its heyday.

The band then went on to become a proper project band, recording in between each of the others' responsibilities, but only this EP and their debut album "Resurrection Through Carnage" would see the group in their inital line-up.

This exclusive edition features the three tracks from the band's first-ever EP release, as well as two of the demo songs that got the band signed in the first place.

Mikolaj is a real multi-talent in bass as well as guitar as well as vocals and "Darkside" Maciej's drumming is a well-calibrated 100th-of-seconds-clockwork. Not for nothing is Mgla considered as a standard for a lot of other blacker-than-black metal bands. I hope to see this band live once..... grote_smurf
